TOPIC: Don't work with Swedish characters

Hi,
I'm evaluation this tool and it looks very useful. Unfortunately it can't handle Swedish characters in filenames or directoríes. It looks like it's the inf file that is saved with wrong codepage (or something). I opened the inf file in another editor PSPAD and corrected the characters before running CABWIZ in DOS mode and it worked. In version 1.9 the inf file is not accessible (maybe a feature for paying users?). In version 1.1 I could save the inf file. With this limitation the tool is not usable for most Swedish users and it's sad. I don't understand how the Norweigans or Finnish users can use it as there as language files for them. Is it possible to fix this soon? Best regards /Göran |

I'll look into this problem and i am sure this is due to codepage of the .inf file. Maybe i'll save it with the user's system language under windows or have the user selects it. Eg for greek system, the codepage will be 754 and so on...
The fields of the PPCIC are properly show swedish characters ? Could you please post the .pci project to examine it andd also the manually edited .inf file? And, yes the .inf editor and saver is for the paid version, as i think that it is a advanced feature |

Hi,
I have attached a zip file including two inf files (testnotworking.inf and testworking.inf). testworking.inf is saved to UTF-8 in the PSPAD editor. I used version 1.1 to generate the inf file. I have tried and modify the default.isl to use the norweigan settings but with no luck. Thanks /Göran Attachment ppccabproblem.zip not found

Hi,
could you please try this beta 2.0 version ? www.aperitto.com/media/downloads/ppc_ins...creator_2.0_beta.exe When saves the .inf file it uses UTF-8 encoding, as microsoft says: For Windows Mobile, you can run the CAB Wizard on a development workstation that uses an Unicode file structure, and the .inf files used to create the .cab file can contain Unicode characters and refer to other files that contain Unicode characters. However, some strings and values in the .inf file can only use Unicode characters that can be converted to ANSI characters without data loss to enable backward compatibility. This includes registry keys and values, and destination filenames that are used in the .inf file. CAB files and the Registry Configuration Service Provider fail if a registry value is set outside the range of signed integers. msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa924359.aspx Regards, Nick Protopapas |
