Hi,

I need to make a buying decision immedietely. Could you please help me on this

I have two cab files and I need to create an installer packaging this.

1) During installation the user should be given the option of installing it in the SDCARD in the device.
What paramater should I change for this?

I need to use only CAB collection module here , right?

Hi,

The device itself will ask to install into the SD Card the CAB files, if one is installed into it.

Yes, if you have two cab files, will use the CAB Collection module and will install both of them ...

Will the Mobile Device also request whether to install to the SD card and which folder to install to with "Direct Copy Module"?

Thank you very much for your support. Last few weeks I have been testing many pocketpc installation software . I found your the best , but I still have few issues with it.

1. During installation, the screen with the dialogue " select the components you want to install; clear the components you do not want to install.click" is ambiguos. It just shows a empty box . Only when I pull down the menu I am able to see the three options and is able to choose one.
I have already selected the "show components list " as "no" in Advanced options.


2. After the build, when I am running the setup program to install the CAB file in the SDcard of device, all the files are getting installed in the proper hierarchy structure . But this is not
under the root directory of the SDcard in the device as expected. But it gets installed under another folder " xy". I think it picks up the folder name "x" from the " provider" and "y" from "appname" , which I have given in the inf file while creating the CAB file. I need to install in the root directory of SD card. Please let me know what is to be done.

Also I have noticed that if I try to install in the device again (without deleting the previous instalation in "xy" directory), the device actually asks for the installation directory and Iam able to install in sdcard root directory

3. Once I register the software, will the messages and logos of your company dissapear during the installation? If I plan to use your software for creating installers for my application, Will these messages keep on appearing.

2. I will look into this, but as far as in know this is the default behavior of the windows cab installer of mobile devices.

when I made the CAB file I have hardcoded the InstallDir as "Storage Card" in the inf file itself. Hence during the installation of CAB file in the device when the CEAPPmanager in my desktop asks the message, " installation in the default directory " and I say " YES" , the CAB file is geting installed in the root directory of the SD card in the device as intended. This is not the complete solution for me since I will not be able to hardcode the storage card name through my inf file always. The storage card name differs from device to device for different manufacturers.

When I chose "no" as the answer for the message" Installation in the default directory", I get a screen in my device which says " installing akk navigator" and "save as" with the following options to be filled up.

Name: ( I left it blank)
folder: none
location: storage card

Then the device does n't accept it. It asks for a unique name.
When I enter a name , say "AKK", the device creates a directory named " AKK" in the SD card and the files are stored under this AKK directory intead of the root directory of SD card.

Please let me know how to solve this in your software. I am also sending my project file to you to check.
