Hi, just a thought I had today, has anyone verified if installations built using PocketPC Installation Creator work with the new Windows Mobile Device Center in Vista? This replaces ActiveSync...

Just thinking that there is the potential for issues given that PocketPC Installation Creator has to detect where ActiveSync is installed, not sure if the files and registry settings for Windows Mobile Device Center are the same as ActiveSync.

I would test this myself but I don't have access to a Vista machine here, we're still all on Win2000!

If someone out there can test it, can post here if it is working ?

But, I think that the WIndows Mobile Center is a new shell, and the undelying tools are the same. For example for installaning the PPC cab files the tool called ceappmgr. It must be the same and into vista. At least hoping

I tested it on vista and unfortunately it doesnt work. It gives "Activesync not found!" message

Microsoft replaced activesync with Windows Mobile Device Center in vista.

I develop under Vista. Although connecting the emulator to Windows Mobile Device Center is a little finicky I don't have any issues using Pocket PC Installation Creator.

I find this hard to believe because invoking the connection manager as done in xp isnt the same anymore and i too am having issues with vista and MDC.
